Hey everyone. Im not sure if this should be in Engine or Carb so I put it here anyway.
Just picked up myself a 83 kz750 with 23 000 kilometers on it. It sat for a year but started right up with new gas. Old gas was treated with stabilizer. Anyway, old owner doesnt know much about the bike.
It runs pretty good at low rpms, although the clutch is either way out of adjustment or needs to be replaced (engages at end of lever or not at all).
When I rev it out of gear to 6000 it blows a little black smoke. When I try and ride it to 6000 in gear it starts backfiring and sputtering. Someone has installed pod filters Im wondering if that could be the problem. I do have the stock airbox.
Could this be a timing issue aswell?
