How the heck do you pull it out? was created by 84GPZrider
Well i took my carbs off my 84 GPZ750 and disassembled everything but i cant get the floatvalve housing(my best description) out on any of them!
These are made out of brass and ive already toasted them!
So they must come out?
Anyone have some ideas?

Not sure exactly what you mean by the "float bowl housing" but I am guessing you are talking about the float bowls and the bracket they are joined onto. If so, there is a little pin that joins the float assembly to the carb body.

Simply tap out the little pin and the housing should disconnect and free the floats.

It never hurts to post a pic if you are unsure of the name or description of the part.

Are you talking about jet needle that has the main jet attached to it? If so remove the washer from the main jet, using the main jet lightly tap the jet needle back through the carb body (toward the top of the carb)

Here is a breakdown of a carb from a 1984 gpz750 a2. Maybe it will help. Click on the picture to make it readable.

What make are your carbs ? On some carbs like the Keihins on my 750 the brass float valve seat - the thingy which the float needle tip sticks up into and shuts off or allows the gas to flow into the bowl are a press fit and not desigend to come out. If this is the case with your then you may need to look for a new set. :S

Im sorry guys i should have looked in my manual to get the correct description.
These are Mikuni carbs and JR has the right part in mind and its called the float valve seat.
There is a little bracket held by a phillips head screw that i removed and im thinking the seat should just pop out of there?
But ive had vice grips on everyone of them and while they turn back and forth they just wont pop out!
And ive killed these things with the grips so now no matter what they have to come out!
The carburetor kits i bought have new seats and i noticed that they have an o-ring on them. Is it possible that the old ones o-rings are just that tight?
Ive read some of the horror stories about some of you guys having stripped out screw heads or seized jets etc. so im thinking im lucky to have gotten everything out except these stinking valve seats.
Ive looked these things over and over and i dont believe there is anything holding them in?
Im gonna go out and use a lil willpower and muscle and see what happens.
I did soak them all down in PB blaster before i went to bed last night so maybe ill get lucky?
Im planning on putting a stage 3 kit in these carbs so ill be back with more questions!lol

Well I finally got those suckers out!!!WOOOOOHOOOOO!
And I thought id come back and post how i did it.
It turns out that yeah!! the o-rings were so varnished in they were froze.
So I took my trusty vice grips and damn near flattened the top of the seats, then i took a correct size flathead screwdriver and turned it back and forth while spraying PBblaster until these things were like greased bearings!
Then with the help of my grips they all just popped right out!lol

Now its time to start cleaning and i was wondering if just using gumout carb cleaner will suffice?(bought 3 cans)

Thanx for the responces......Marc

If using spray-can carb cleaner, be sure to wear protective goggles, as this stuff always backfires. ;)
