Idle Problems, please help! was created by BLR_STS
Hey guys,
I am new to these boards, but have been snooping around and found them a valuable resource. I have a 1981 KZ 750-E. and it is idling a tad bit low, just enough to die on me at stops. Is there any was to adjust the carbs so it will idle just a tad bit higher. If someone could tell what I need to turn and where it is located that would be tremendous.
TIA
-Josh

Is there not a master idle screw on those bikes?
Look at the carbs and there should be a master screw in the center above the carbs.
Turn this knob / screw to the right (clockwise) to increase the RPM's or left (CCW) to decrease the RPM's.
I have found that when cold the bike will run at higher rpm's then after it has warmed up a bit.
A slight adjustment 1/4 turn will affect the RPM's, just turn it a bit, then wait 10 - 15 seconds to see the rpm tach respond. (it may require more , just take it a bit at a time)
I adjust my idle screw every few weeks as it seems to always be needed if the weather is hot and dry or damp and humid.
Hope this helps.
