going to the Dyna S innition, is this a huge job
? looked aroundfor prices and well it doesnt seem to bad. but can a green thumb at motorcycles do it? i guess im not totally green when it comes to mechanice, but like i said bikes are a bit new to me. so i guess if i can turn a wrench and with the right info and direction i can do the same as i can with a car etc...thanks again guys

since the floats stcuk and I didn't see it mentioned... do you have a gas filter? what is the condition of the tank - as far as rust. Sound like dirt in fuel may be the issue and the other stuff symptems.

before i got the carbs rebuilt, i creamed the insie of the tank, when the shop did the carbs, they also put in new gas filter and new fuel lines. thats what makes me pissed, what more does a person have to do to keep these older bikes running right......FRUSTRATED. thanks alot tho people

Something I saw in someone's signature line comes to mind:

"Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching. Wrenching is the reward for time spent riding."

Or something like that. If I didn't enjoy wrenching I'd not be riding vintage bikes. I spend a LOT of time in the garage, but I enjoy that. It's time well spent IMO.

Still sounds like you've got dirty carbs.

Installing a Dyna S ignition is not a huge job at all. Anyone with a reasonable ability to run wires and turn a screwdriver should be able to do it in 30-60 minutes. It really isn't a big deal, and you can say goodbye to adjusting and replacing points forever. :)

I put one on my '78 KZ1000, and it runs great.
