I have a 1980 KZ250G with only 3K miles.
It's in pretty good condition for it's age.
The previous owner parked it for the last 8 years.
The bike wasn't running when I bought it.
I have done the following so far:
- New battery.
- New points, condenser and spark plug.
- Cleaned out the carb twice.
- Adjusted the valves.
- New fuel filter and fuel line.
- Old air filter is Ok.
- Throttle cable is Ok.
The bike starts and runs, but it has the following symptoms.
- Engine stalls very abruptly at idle . Have to keep the revs up.
- Hanging idle from 3000 to 4000 RPM then slow return to idle.
- Black spark plug after only minutes of riding. It's running rich for sure.
What should I do next? I've been meaning to change the
carb holder, but can't find the part online. Those rubber
things tend to leak when old, mine seems to be Ok though.
Thanks in advance for your help.
