My rubber boots (whatever you call the rubber between the carbs and the air box) are in good shape - how do I keep em that way? Can some sort of protectant be applied to them?

Many of us use 303 Aerospace Protectant on our rubber parts, fork bellows etc. Check out the following link:

Black magic clear prtectant spray is very good for rubber, plastic, leather.
