1982 kz1000crs I only get about 80 miles before i have to use reserve and when i do use reserve the bike runs poorly. What should be the normal range for this bike.

I don't know how big your tank is. Do you? I would guess 3.5 to 4 gallons. If this is the case, probably 125 miles or so?

On my 82' CSR, I go to reserve at about 95-105 miles. Though I'm running 1135 pistons with stock air box and aftermarket 4-2 turnout pipes.

You wrote that the bike runs poorly on reserve.

I'm wondering if there's a problem with your petcock that isn't allowing enough fuel to flow while on reserve. Does the performance improve if you switch to PRI?

The RES is just a second hole in the petcock and picks up gas lower in the tank. If there is a problem, it is probably gunk/trash in the lower part of the tank. It wouldn't hurt to disassemble the petcock but there really isn't anything to clear for the RES position or the ON position for that matter.

I can get about 140 miles out a tank...as long as I don't kick in the 4-barrels(too much)

I have two 1100D and one 1100A2. The Ds get around 110/120 before hitting reserve. The A2, which I just did a top end job, has been getting 45 mpg around town. I have not had that bike on the hiway yet because of breaking in the rings. Before the top end job, I was getting around 38 in town and 50 on the hiway.....chris3
