Can someone provide a picture of the accelerator pump rod and nut assembled on their bike? I have it set up so that, working down from the top of the pump rod it goes in the following order: Washer, Spring, Washer, through the assembly on the #2 carb, then pump rod nut. The reason I'm not 100% about this is because the spring doesn't seem to serve a purpose.
Also, I had to use a retractable pen spring since the OEM one didn't come with the bike and no one seems to make it anymore. Any thoughts?

The spring is there to be a mechanical way of keeping the brass nut in place. Springs are commonly used for this purpose. You should also Loctite the nut.
