Fuel in manifold ports was created by 77_650B1
Hey guys,

I've been getting fuel in my manifold ports for the longest time now. I used to have overflow problems with my carbs, so I put in new float valves, seems to work, I never get any gas out the overflows anymore. I dont know where this gas is coming from, or even if its normal? I made sure to check that she was running on all cylinders, then shut her off and pulled a plug, gas in there every time. I've got a new pingel petcock in my tank too.

May be a moot point in any case, as my carbs are going off to George in July in any case, I was just wondering if I might have a seperate problem.

They do tend to collect fuel in them because they are on the bottom. You can correct it by taking the carbs off and switching them from side to side so the ports are on the top.

You will be actually, puting the ones from cylinders one and two onto three and four and vice versa so the ports are pointing to the outside to make it easier to do a carb sync.

You had better find gas in the vacuum port caps when you remove them. Gas is supposed to come out of the carburetor and go into the combustion chamber. The vacuum fittings are on the bottom and hence the gas. Just remember to pour the little bit of gas out before putting the caps in your pocket.
