Have an 78 kz1000 it idles good and sounds good wideopen. The problem I'm haveing is it doesn't sound right crusing, It doesn't have that crisp sound more like a burbble. Has the stock carbs on it 115 main jets 15 pilots. Any suggestions on what to do ?:S

You didn't mention WHY it has #115 pilots which are not the stock size. You also didn't mention what altitude you are operating the bike, what intake mods, what exhaust mods, what engine mods, etc. Not sure what "burbling" means... are you sure it isn't backfiring?

Came with the jets that are in it. I live 60 mi. sw of houston. It ran very good with the jets that are in it before. I have rebuilt the top end. No it isn't back firing. I have replaced the points with an Dyna ing. I've checked timing and have sync the carbs (bought an manometer)I guess burbbling would translate (DON'T SOUND RIGHT)didn't know how to describe it

Probably a long shot but have you changed brands of gas recently ?
Last year in 5th gear and at 3,000 rpm just tooling down main street the beast sounded not quite right. Burbling is probably a good description. It was just within a narrow rpm range. I went back to buying Sunoco and problem gone.

Are you saying its giving you the blah blah blah blah sound, not like its backfiring, but like its missing when its firing ? Thats the same thing my bike does at low speed in third gear at about 35mph or so . I would be interested in how you fixed this problem.. Wayne

 One more thing I did was put the baffle back in the exchaust. I had took it out sometime back(liked the sound)B). But it cruises better with it in. I have an kirker that is open if I wanna run hard I'll just swap the tail peices.
