AN OLD GYM SOCK!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :S
That's what the PO had on it when I bought it. I looked into replacing it, but the price was about the same.
I have not looked into Z1 yet. I bet he has something that is close enough.
What a coincidence.

I have a 1980 KZ1000 Classic as well and used a K&N filter, but I had so much trouble with the EFI that I am in the process of installing carbs on the bike. The chalange now is figuring out the wiring. After removing the electronics I am not getting any spark at the plugs. Anyone there that has removed the EFI that can offer help??
Do you have a wiring diagram? that would help immensely. I have not removed my efi, but I have looked at the diagrams and I didn't think that the ignition system was tied directly to the EFI brain. I did the coil mod and I guess I did have to make one change to that to make it work.
I think that there are several others on this site who have already removed their efi at one point or another. I would guess that once you do that, your bike should be wired like any other bike with carbs. Maybe look at a diagram from an '80 LTD or something else similar?
