carb problems?? was created by firebird380hp
Hope some of you can point me in the right direction. The psark plugs are new and it idles fine and as long as you don't crowd the bike it runs fine until it levels off in rpm and then it starts to stumble and when you open the throttle up it will bog and then take off. Any Idea's I have check the point gap, plugs, timing and even hot wired the coils so it will get the full 12v.

any help would be appreciatted, Robert

Sounds like the idle circuit is running rich. There is an air component to most idle circuits perhaps your pilot air jet is obstructed. Sounds like a good cleaning is in order.

It would help if you posted the type of bike you're riding in your sig line.

Good Luck

Has the bike ever run well for you? Have you changed anything just prior to this issue?

yes when I first bought the bike back in late 07 it ran real well other than a idle problem. So I took it to a guy in savannah to have it fixed. He took the carbs off also checked the comp. and he adjusted the timing also. But when he got thru it idle real well and was'nt bogging much. But since then it's gotten worse.

if I can get it running back like it did when I bought it I'll leave it alone butit's hard your all the time wanting to do something. The guy I bought it from owned a shop in fla. so when I got it from him he dyno tuned the bike to run it's best. And if it had'nt been for the idle problem it would have been perfect.

I recently learned that my floats were all set incorrectly. I had set them with a float gauge - real scientific and all, but my KZ900 with it's composite floats had different bouyancy and every carb needed it's own adjustment - something measuring float height can't/won't do.

When the float level is too high - you get poor idle, fuel sloshing into the intake, and dark black soot around the outside of the plugs. It ran good at mid and open throttole - when the engine was pulling fuel, but as soon as it returned to low rpm - it was rich all over again. If this is a shared symptom - then make or buy a float level tool.

Gordon

Now that would make sense and kinda sounds like what mines doing I have checked the plugs several times after riding it and they were smutty looking or dark like there getting to much fuel.Ilbikes wrote:
