1075 carbs?
04 Feb 2006 23:16
i am going to build my bike up now. her is my set up that i have decided to go with:
-"77kz1000 big bored to 1075
-ape k435 cams
-kz900 crank
-10.25:1 comp
need some help with the carbs. , right now i only have the stock carbs. i am pretty sure they are the vm 26"s. i can't afford to get new carbs yet. so i need to know if these carbs(vm26's) can be jetted (tuned that is) to this style engine set up with out starving the engine of gas.
i do rev my engines hard. 75% of the time they are above 4500-5000 rpms.
let me know what you all think!!!!!!!please.
thanks

I see you've been waiting for a reply. Basically you'll need to step your carbs up for the setup you're talking about above. If you can't swing 34mm Mikunis, look for a set of 29's or 33's..

you might get away with vm28's...easier to find than 29's. but like they previous poster pointed out, the bigger ones would probably work better. good luck.

If they fit in the carb holders (inlet manifolds) then you would just have to deal with the throttle cable(s) and tuning them for your motor.
Given enough determination, anything will work

Yes the GSXR carbs will fit in J-Model Manifolds and the splay for the intact tracts are the same for KZ, GS, GSXR, (GSXR in certain years) have a look at a reference. And yes they can be tuned for your application.

I believe 93 and older GSXR carbs are the ones that fit. Same carb spacing.

the older models gixxer carbs will work but they are a little tough to be into the carb holders. the spacing of the carbs are just a little off comparied to kz ones be i know a couple of friends that run the suzuki carbs. they will need to be jetted for you bike as already stated.
