Replacing Intake Manifolds
22 May 2008 20:36
When replacing the rubber intake mainfolds do you put Locktite on the screws or the opposite anti seize compound. The screws were a b****d to get out, couldn't get the impact driver on the inner manifolds. It looked like some king of compund was on the screws, but then again it could have been 30 years of corrosion.

Run a tap through the bolt holes to assure that they're clean, then of course use all new hardware to help prevent them from "welding" themselves in there again.
I'd recommend using some anti-seize compound, which is always a good idea when combining two diff metals (steel bolts/screws into magnesium? aluminum? engine).
Torquing the new bolts/screws to factory specs is a good idea as well.
