KZ650 D1 (sr) Carb Kits
20 May 2008 19:54
Hi
I need to clean out the carbs on the KZ650 project I just bought. It sat for a while before I got it. The bike is a 1978 KZ650 D1 (sr). Who makes the best carb kits for my bike?
I've read that you don't get the right jets with the Keyster kits.
Has anyone used the kits from Z1?
Thanks

Often, thorough cleaning will suffice without requiring a full kit. Sometimes need only a new pilot jet.

I recently rebuilt my 78 KZ650 Carbs with kits from Z1 Enterprises. They have everything except the choke plunger stuff. Each kit had 4 sizes for the main jets, pilot jet, 2 sizes of air screws , o rings , float valve and the top and bowl gaskets. The Canadian spec is 102.5 mains and 15 pilot for stock airbox and exhast. You won't go wrong with the Kits from Z1.
I soaked them good in cleaner from NAPA and blew out the circuits with compressed air. If the bike has sat for a while the Ckoke and Pilot circuts will likely be plugged up. You may get away with a good cleaning.
