taking carbs off thier mounts?

Why does everyone seem to recomend not to seperate the carbs from each other?I got a set off ebay witch need cleaning on the inside and out.I want to seperate and take all carbs completly apart and let each one soak in carb cleaner to get nice and clean.But I remember reading more than once that it is not recomended.I was wondering why and if so,I would take some recomendations as to how to really get outside of carbs looking new again??

Go for the cleaning....just dont ever, EVER mix up pieces between carbs. To fully clean a set of carbs you have to take them off the rack. just get an egg crate or something and keep all of the individual carb pieces together. make sure that the same parts go back in the same carb and you'll be ok. good luck,
