Mr. Manometer says I have a vacuum leak? KZ1000A1

Hi folks! I'm in the process of reviving my ole' 77 KZ1000 from the depths of the garage. I am trying to sync the carbs just to see where I'm with a roll-your-own manometer. I'm using 2 stroke oil and some 3/16 tubing with a 4-part T in the middle. When I run the bike with everything hooked up it tries to pull the fluid out of the meter on the 2 middle lines. If I swap lines 1 and 2, 3 and 4 it tries to pull the fluid out of the 2 outside lines. The symptom follows the #1 and #4 carbs so I think that rules out a leak in the manometer.
Am I right in assuming that my rubber carb intakes on #1 and #4 are leaking? I am getting some pops through the carbs on 1 and 4 once in a while. There are cracks on the #1 and #4 intakes but I RTV'd them as a temporary fix and they didn't go all the way through anyway when I looked at them with the carbs off.
Thanks,
Bill

Spray your intake boots with some wd40 or carb cleaner while it is running to see if the idle changes. If it does there is a leak. If there is no leak then the carbs are out of sync #and need to be adjusted. #1 and 4 are farther open than 2 and 3, causing there to be more vacumm on 2 and 3.

The tubes are all the same length. I got the T from Autozone. They didn't have a huge selection but they did have one of those so I went with it.

Well I shot some carb cleaner at the holders and sure enough the RPM's rocketed up.
Anyone have a spare set of carb holders they'd like to sell?
Thanks,
Bill
