Cool. That pic with the concrete background is mine, from my driveway. I got that tool from a guy who was unloading a near-complete set of KZ400 dealer tools. I got the whole set for $125.

I strongly recommend what you've already got planned, I mean accurately measuring float height. However, this measurement can be tricky with sticky float valves... or sticking floats... I recommend you just replace your float valves if you haven't in a while...
