Fuel Level Tool

Hi fellas. I need a little help. I'm trying to purchase the clear tube and fitting used to check the fuel level in the carbs on my KZ900. This is a stock bike with the original 26mm carbs, but I have suspected the fuel level is too high since I'm getting a rough idle and I have wet fuel in the syncronizer plugs after just a few seconds at idle.

Can someone give me the part #, please?

Thanks,
Gordon

Never seen anybody actually buy the tool. I just get some clear plastic hose and trim (taper) the end with an X-acto knife so it can be shoved into the hole at the bottom where the draing screw comes out with minimal leakage while I read the level.

Click right here on The Real McCoy which is the link to Z1E's listing, and look at the oem number. Believing this is the Kawasaki part number.

Good Luck!

Actually my bad, with an unintentional camouflage, and should have noted it as being a link.

Good Luck with the bike and fuel level measurements! :)

YEEEOOOWWWWWW!!!!!!!

That's how you know it's a Kawasaki tool....

In the old days whenever I had to buy something from kawasaki, I would figure the fair price and multiply X3 and that would be close.....

now I multiply X10....

Really $69 for a tool is not all that bad. That being said though, the fuel level gauge is near worthless unless you make sure the motorcycle is 100% level ect, and I don't want to mount carbs, check, unmount 50 times.
Check float with a ruler, assemble and you're done. The float level is not critical. Yes, you don't want no fuel, or overflowing, but in between is not that critical to get exact +/- a couple MM.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Guys, actually I love having tools. I also need to get this sorted out. I've set my floats to 26mm and I've still got a sloshing problem at idle. My jetting is good throughout the range, it's just at idle I've got a rough idle and if I pull the syncronizer caps off - I've got raw fuel in them. I think that can only come from fuel sloshing around in the bowls from too high a level.

Back to the tools - I enjoy having the right tool for every bike I own. This is part of the hobby for me.

Thanks again for the input/help -

Regards,
Gordon
