Are you SURE that it's leaking there, and not at the t-fittings(unions) between each set of carbs?
Those unions are known to leak, and the fuel will drip from the bowls, making you think it IS the bowls that are leaking.

It's a real common fault . Typically it's the float needle . They get alittle worn and don't seat properly . Easy to get and easy to replace. Get the replacement types that have the black rubber tip. As the bowls fill with fuel the float rises and the float needle rises until it blocks the flow of fuel . As the level falls through use the float drops allowing the needle to also drop and that lets fuel into the bowls. Much the same as the float in you toilet cistern works . If it's worn at the tip it doesn't seal the way it should and this allows an overflow of fuel regardless of whether the bike is running or not. A real common fault in most older Jap bikes and one thats easy to repair. Most older Kawasaki dealers still have replacement float needles & seats(depending on model) for most 70's & 80's Zeds .

Has anyone told you about a product called "Sea-Foam"? It can serve to help clean out deposits of assorted 'crud' from your fuel system.

It is not an instant fix, but it did have a significant positive affect on my bike.

It sounds as if you need to work with your float valves. Maybe it is too late to add the fuel cleaner that might have cleaned the crud out of the valves. But for 4 bucks, it is worth a shot.

Never and I do mean Never under any circumstance use a product like Seafoam on a bike . It is the quickest way to dislodge crud from your tank and that crud will block every nook & cranny in your carbies. I repaired a CB750 , a Z650B1 and a GSXR750 last year that had used similar products after they bought it off ebay as a "Wonder carb & tank cleaner". The GSXR & CB carbs required a strip down and an ultra sonic cleaning and a complete rebuild using all new parts(at a cost of $650 for the CB750 and over $800 for the GSXR). The Z650 carbs were that blocked that I ended up binning them and buying a replacement set . That stuff is a bikes worst enemy . You think it's going to take the place of a carb rebuild but it makes the situation way more worse.

Before contacting wg about rebuiding, I suggest you go to our website and view the VM Carb Connections link under wg's Tech Stuff Index. I have a sneaking suspicion that your carbs may not be hooked up correctly.

I had the same issue with my 1978 KZ650. It may be as easy as tapping the float bowl with a wrench. My floats would stick now and then.

I bought rebuld kits for all four carbs on my '78 650. I didn't think the float valves (or idle jets) needed replacing - but they did. However, on reinstallation I had the same problem with one carb. The "overflow" tube was cracked at the base where it goes through the float bowl! I couldn't find a fix (other than a new carb), so I broke the tube off, cleaned the break area and soldered the tube closed! Works perfectly now - but I need to keep an eye out for a leaky float valve!
