How does the fuel tank vent? It seems sealed up to me.
(1981 KZ650 CSR) Just curious?

There's a small hole in the gasket that seals the cap on top. You won't believe how long it takes to remember that when it gets plugged with crud and you keep running out of gas from the vacuum lock.....

You should be able to feel the spring pressure when you close the tank. And check your cover gasket for cracks and breaks. I couldn't figure out why I kept smelling gas when I couldn't find a leak anywhere. Turned out the cap gasket was cracked, and gas was evaporating out the cap.

For your 1981 KZ650 CSR the gas tank seal goes for about $5 new.
