air filter kz 440?

this is my airbox....am i right?....there is no air filter on this bike? kz 440/ 83'

would the lack of this filter cause the bogging down that i am getting on this bike?,,,,,when i give it gas at all it just bogs down, but it starts, runs and idles.....???

Nope, you are missing items 2-4 in this diagram:



That is your air filter and housing. And yes, without that you could definitely see performance problems.

I wrote this in your previous thread on this same subject... Perhaps you didn't understand. YES - WILL BOG... LOOK AT DRAWINGS THAT HAVE BEEN POSTED SEVERAL TIMES.... YOU GOT STUFF MISSING; AIRBOX/FILTER ETC...

"The air box is clear? No filter? Something isn't right... air box should be made out of molder black plastic. Filter needs to be in place else the bike will run real lean and you will BOG DOWN AS SOON AS YOU GIVE IT SOME GAS. Buy a service manual... check kawasaki.com under OWNER INFO and look at the parts diagrams for your bike; specifically the airbox/filter drawing."

When I had a 440 a few years ago, I picked up a whole airbox with filter housing for $20 at a local salvage yard.

Yep, you're missing the air cap, air filter/element case and foam pre-filter/filter element.



The air cap (part# 11012-1086), air filter/element case (part# 11011-1043) and pre-filter/filter element (part# 11013-1027) fit:
KZ400-H1 (1979)

And when checking on eBay, don't forget to search through the "Store" listings.
Most parts were listed in auction form at least once before being placed there, and will likely have a lower price due to that. I've scored some killer deals in the eBay store listings.

I figured I would just ask here since I felt starting a new thread would clutter up the place.

Anyhow, @ Wiredgeorge, I lost my filter, pre filter, and Filter cap years ago, and went with Pods instead, What Jets should I get to replace the stock jets?
