20 pilots

is anyone else running 20 pilots on a 650? if i run 17.5's and crack the throttle it's hesitating. the 20's takes it away. however i don't have a response in engine fluctuation when i turn the #1 cylinder air screw. i can pull it all the way out or turn it all the way in w/no response. could this be why i'm having to run 20's?

Maybe... sounds like #1 is getting all the air it wants from a source other than the bore of the carburetor?
Are you sure the carbs are synced and balanced? You might have one not doing much at idle and would give the same symptom.

yeah, they're all at 10hg. the # 1 cannot be adjusted w/ the air screw. definitely no vacuum leaks. maybe something in a passage way in that carb.
