They are for hooking up external vacuum gauges to check the balance between your carbs...and yes, those ports need to be blocked at all times (either with a vacuum gauge or the plugs) (Z1Enterprises sells them individually).

On the other hand you´ll get cruise control since revs won´t go down:P No, seriously, teh must be closed all times otherwise the air/fuel -mixture goes nuts and it runs like crap.

I wouldn't run a bike with a cap missing. Makes that cylinder run REAL WARM!

I was wondering my bike starting running crappy! I just had the carbs retuned a few weeks ago & it was running so smooth. Then I noticed some "weirdness" & thought man they go out of sync that soon?? Then I looked & saw one of those rubber caps missing. It didn't dawn on me until yesterday that that could be the cause. I went down to home depot & got this cap & put it on there. And BAM it runs smoothly again! YES! But do I need the exact ones from Z1 that are made for that purpose or can I use any rubber cap that seals it?

Better get the right kind, made for gas. I'd bet Home depot rubber with get saturated with gas before the day is over.

Probably, otherwise in a pinch you can use a short hose plugged with a bolt or something to that effect.

Keep riding without the plug and you'll be replacing at least a piston...

Got some caps from my local Autozone. They're made by "vacu-tite" so I hope they will work. Time will tell...
