1981 GPZ1100 fuelie

Found a fuelie for sale but the poster says it fould plugs often and he seems to thinks its because of it burning oil. The only other thing i know is the bike has a kerker 4-1. For those who know the furl injection system does this sound more like a problem with it?

Some of those bikes (mine is an '82) were honed incorrectly at the factory. Mine burned oil (1 qt./500 miles). I've since put an MTC 74mm big bore kit in and I haven't burned any oil since. But even when it did burn oil, I never fouled a plug.

Could be either issue (FI or rings/pistons). The FI is fairly forgiving and, to some extent, self-regulating. By that I mean, the computer will monitor and regulate air/fuel parameters if one swapped pipes...the owner need not do any adjustments. But, because the owner says it burns oil, I'm leaning towards issues related to rings, cylinders, head/valve seals. Similar to 'howard95132' I also had a 1982 Gpz1100 and it drank mucho oil (but didn't foul plugs). You may not know the answer to this question until you buy the bike and pull the top of the motor...this strongly suggests you should consider these factors when negotiating on a final price for the bike.:) :)
