Hello All,

I did a search here, but perhaps I wasnt using the right terminology as I did not find an answer. My dad purchased a 1979 KZ650D. Its his first bike in over 25 years! I am trying to get it running for him. I rebuilt the carbs with the kit(s) from partsnmore.com. I also rebuilt the accelerator pump. The air filter and coil pack is are the way (one plug has really really weak and intermittent spark.

I am hoping to get the default/stock settings for the carb.

Air Screw = ? how many turns out?

Clip position = right in the middle, correct (Minnesota)?

Needle Adjustment screw = I know this would depend on the clip position, but assuming its in the middle, how many turns out is this normally?

I no longer have a service manual for a 650 but I would start at 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out and fine tune it once the bike is running.
Stock setting is needle clip in the middle. It may need to be changed depending on if there is pod filters or aftermarket exhaust etc.

Factory setting for a stock 650 with air screws is 2 plus/minus 1/4 turns out. Clip should be in the 4th slot (counting down from the top) :)
