1980 kz 650e carb problems was created by oldkaws4ever
My girlfriends brother just got a 1980 kz 650e, with 10,000 miles on the clock a v&h 4into1 and pods. The bike has sat for the last 3 years with gas in the tank and carbs. I went over there today to help him get it started, only to find that the carbs were competley stuck closed, but i got the slides to free up. I got it to start but it instantly revved up to 5 or 6000 rpm's and it would not idle back down. My question is can i switch the petcock and carbs from my 1977 kz 650b to the 1980 kz650e. i have the same set up as him 4into1 v&h header and pods the carbs on my bike have been jetted for the pipes and pods. If anyone has any advice let me know. Thanks

I can't think of any reason why not, I swap carb banks between bikes all the time. The only thing I can think of that you will have to do in this case is to block off the vacuum hose that leads to the petcock assuming your 650B petcock is the original manual type. Just use a small screw to plug the hose and you should be fine.

The sync may be a little off. But if both bikes have decent compression, your carbs should work fine.

sorry for the wait, i have had to work alot lately. I went over there tuesday and put my carbs on. It fired right up and with a little tinkering she was purring like a kitty cat. That thing rode like a raped ape, and sounded awsome to boot.
