gas tank question

I was wondering has anyone tried to put a bigger size gas tank on a 82 hz750. I was looking at maybe a kz1000 tank and adjusting the mounting tab on the end. any idea's or tests someone has tried.

Not sure how much help it's going to be, but I put a KZ1000/900 tank on a '81 KZ750. The tank didn't show what model it came from, I got it really cheap because of that.

Anyways, I hat to weld some new tabs on the front, the part that slides over the rubber that hold the tank in place, because the original one where in a completely different place.

I had to take a bfh to the underside of the tank on the side where the seat is to make it look level and clear the frame. Then I made a bracket to hold the tank in place.

The biggest pita was that the petcock was hitting the frame so I had to relocate it, that wasn't fun at all...

I was lucky the tank must have been sitting for ages, there were no gas fumes.
