Yay for riding season! Now about those damn carbs...

Hey all,

I have been having some minor issues with my setup and was wondering if anyone could help out/give suggestions as to what to look at.

I seem to be able to start the bike pretty fine from cold, sometimes it takes a few good minutes, other times no prob. The problem I am noticing is that the engine tends to rev up when I am just sitting at idle so I assume that means that too much air is flowing through? I know that the intake boots aren't leaking, I have pod filters though and think that may be the problem, even though I elec. taped more than half of the pod area closed to see if that reduced air flow but still I get the high revs, even when I am riding and pull the clutch in and let off the throttle the engine races. It rides fine with the choke (enrichener) up and pulls pretty hard which I know is not how it is supposed to be, and with the choke down, it pops back through the carbs a lot at idle but actually pulls harder (like really damn harder) when I open the throttle.

I am wondering if i need to change jet sizes, but I don't want to go all willy-nilly, does it sound like I need to change the pilot jet only, perhaps make it larger? anyways, I have 4-1 headers with zx-10 sportbike exhaust, timing is damn good, pods, new wiring, and the engine is in top shape.

Thanks!
