petcock clearance issue was created by kzmason
I have WG's BS34 kit and now I have a clearance problem. the petcock hits the top of the carbs and blocks movement of the handle any suggestions for a smaller petcock?

Both a Pingel or Drag Specialties or Custom Chrome petcock are smaller. They require the use of a Pingel adapter plate. I also think the adapter plate can be had with an offset hole for clearance issues. MOST Kaw applications are 44m bolt offset. The hole will be the same (3/8" NPT). I personally use the Custom Chrome type petcocks as they flow gas great and fully rebuildable. I buy this stuff from

- Call them to be sure to get the right stuff. The Custom Chrome petcock will be in the $20 range. You can see tons of these type petcocks in the Harley catalog of JPCycles. I think that Harley boys call these petcocks 13/16" and metric riders call them 22mm but essentially, they are 3/8" NPT (pipe thread) and not really SAE or metric. Double check your mount bolt offset.

My tank has the thread on petcock, not the bolt on type. How does this affect my options?

when i converted my bike from fuel injection to bs34's i had to move the petcock back an inch or so as it was hitting carbs too,it was simple enough for me as my tank was bare metal at the time so i didn't need to worry about the paint when i re welded it in place then patched old hole with a black plate and sealed tank.

The tank has a 22mm bung. You only have to buy an adapter nut by Pingel and then you can use either the Pingel petcock or Custom Chrome type petcock that z1enterprises.com sells. Both are smaller than a stocker. The Suzuki petcock that was recommended is the same size as an OEM petcock and doesn't provide a solution if clearance is the issue.
