Anybody have the KZ750 twin 76 (BS38) onwards carb section documentation in .pdf form? I had it but it got corrupted somehow... Would like the Kaw FSM chapter on fuel systems. Email me please or send U2U. Thanks!
Here's The complete "Kawasaki Service Manual" for the '76-'79 KZ750 twin in PDF format , donated by Homer/Davie from KZRider.com. NOTE: It kinda' got chewed up a bit in converting from DOC format to PDF in OpenOffice - after being chewed up a bit from the OCR in MS Office - but I hope it helps...

1. 76-78 carb specs:
Type BS38
Main jet 125
Main Air Jet 1.0
Needle Jet Badge # Z-4
Jet Needle 4JN19-4
Pilot Jet 45
Pilot Screw 11/2 + - 1/2t turns out
Starter Jet 110
Fuel level (from bore center) 31 ± 1 mm
Fuel Level 4.5mm ~ 6.5mm
Question... are the years correct? 76-78? I read in the spec about the Fuel level (from bore center) 31 +/- 1mm... what the heck does that mean???
Question... need the SAME specs for the BS34 and years that the BS34 was used... did they start in 79? If so, until what year?
Thanks! The 750 manual that BT has doesn't have spec or the addendum for the BS34 equipped models... Any help would be mucho appreciated. I am putting all this junk into a spreadsheet SLOWLY... Will eventually put a carb ident guide together and post it, prolly on my website. May include some pics I guess as well.

I looked over BT's linked .pdf files and I honestly don't need the whole fuel section... I got some of what I need but need help with the following:
1. 76-78 carb specs:
Type BS38
Main jet 125
correct
Main Air Jet 1.0
not listed
Needle Jet Badge # Z-4
Z-2
Jet Needle 4JN19-4
4HL12-3
Pilot Jet 45
40
Pilot Screw 11/2 + - 1/2t turns out
can't find specific info
Starter Jet 110
50
Fuel level (from bore center) 31 ± 1 mm
correct
Fuel Level 4.5mm ~ 6.5mm
Fuel Service Level 5.5+/- 1mm
Question... are the years correct? 76-78? I read in the spec about the Fuel level (from bore center) 31 +/- 1mm... what the heck does that mean???
Question... need the SAME specs for the BS34 and years that the BS34 was used... did they start in 79? If so, until what year?
The above are the specs listed in the above for the BS38 B4 model.

Main jet- 115, Needle jet- Y-9, Jet needle-SC50,pilot jet-45, starter jet-70, service fuel level- 3+/- 1 mm below from bottom edge of carb body to fuel level.
'82 S1 and Y1 appear to be the same as M1.

The 31 mm spec must be the distance from the dead center of the bore of the carb down to the fuel level. I use the 5.5mm spec to set mine: that is the distance down from the LOWER EDGE of the top half of the carb body (the half above the bowl).
Mine is a 1979 model and it was still using the BS38. The BS34 must have come after mine.
Mine also came standard with 40 pilots, 125 mains, and clips in the center (#3) slot of the needles.

The 5.5mm service fuel level is 5.5mm below the gasket mating line using a clear tube to measure the fuel level.
In previous posts, Steve Elliot mentioned he sets his float level (this is when the carbs are turned upside down and the top of float to carb is measured at 25mm... this is very likely pretty correct. At some point, I will do a wet measure at 5.5mm and then measure the float level. It has to be near 25mm...
Thanks to all!

Me too. 25 or 26 has worked perfect for me, depending on the bike. I always check once on the bike, but they usually end up spot-on....In previous posts, Steve Elliot mentioned he sets his float level (this is when the carbs are turned upside down and the top of float to carb is measured at 25mm... this is very likely pretty correct. I can't quite vizualize how you could possibly measure the fuel level from the center of the bore since the slide is sitting in the middle of the bore. How would you even find the middle of the bore?
Good question.... I assume the fact it probably is nearly impossible is why they give the other 5.5mm spec which is measurable.
