neglected fuel injection
28 Jan 2008 18:17
Hey Fellas, new here. Lots of great info.
I have a fuel injected gpz 1100 82. Been left for over a year with fuel in it. I want to fire it up. Aside from changing the fuel, is there something i should do for the injectors? Will they be gummed up?

Strangely enough, they should be fine...FI doesn't store fuel, as compared to a carburator...your fuel pump, on the other hand, does to a certain extent. The flip side being, I had a 1982 GPz1100 that I wrecked (and it sat outside (but covered) for 1.5 years) and it fired right up when I repaired it. It is a remarkably durable system...but you might want to run some SeaFoam through it and change your fuel filter, too
And welcome, you have a great bike! I love the old GPz's.

Not that it applies here exactly, but I have a 1993 ford van that sat 6 entire years and it fired right up even with 6 year old gas.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
