Wrong jets cause?????
22 Jan 2008 20:23
Would the wrong jets on a bike with pods & kerker make a sputter in the carbs too?
or do i need to dig deeper in the timing again?
my intakes are in great shape and seal sweet. just wondering if that carb popping on #4 will stop?

Is it popping or are you hearing the individual pulses?

no, its popping back through the carb here and there, you can even see it bulge out the pod filter.

Then I would want to think timing. But only out of #4? Would think timing would effect all carbs. Strange... could be fuel, tried playing with air/pilot screws? How's sync?

if its only on #4 have you checked the valves to see if the intake might be tight

You could still have an air leak on #4 carb, just hard to find. You might want to check the diaphragm on #4 carb and the valve clearance on #4 at the same time. Be careful so as not to tear the diaphragm when removing the top if it hasn't been off in a while as they stick and tear easy.
Those CV carbs and pods are hard to balance and jet properly by design of the carb. If you can get a set of VM's you'd be better off in the long run. That all said if the bike was running good and just started this issue then try to find the air leak first then check the rest.
