Changing fuel levels in fuel line was created by smockron
Hi all,

I searched the archives but wasn't able to find much to answer my question.

I have 1976 KZ400 standard. I always seem to have varying levels of fuel between the fuel filter and the carbs. Is this a problem? Sometimes it will be full other times just dripping gas bit by bit down the line. If it's an issue, what causes it and how could I fix it?

Hello smockron, and welcome to the site. :) We're glad you're here. :cheer:

What you're seeing in the fuel line is the norm and usually not an issue.

May verify fuel flow by separating inline filter from fuel line going into carb. Then turn on petcock and watch gas flow from end of filter.

Another way to test flow would be to remove a carb float bowl drain screw. Then turn on petcock and watch fuel flow out the drain screw hole.

Either method shows fuel flow isn't being resricted by blockage in the petcock or a dirty inline fuel filter.

Uncertain of the physics involved, but rumor has it that only the clear fuel lines exhibit this phenomenon, and that the non-clear fuel lines always stay full. :woohoo:
