Pod Filter Help was created by EasyRider1
I have another thread going regarding air filters and since I'm considering losing the air box all toghter and putting in some pod filters, I thought I'd post my question:
What am I supposed to do with the breather tube if I get rid of the airbox?

If you are referring to the crankcase breather at the back of engine case near or above the trany;
Option 1. - I just went to pods myself and simply ran a new hose and looped it over to sit directly above my chain. That way if any oil should "burp" out it will (hopefully) act as an automatic oiler for the chain.
Option 2. - Go to JC Whitney or Ebay and run a search for "Crankcase Breather Filter". I also bought one of those but I hooked it up to my emmissions control valve so as not to suck "raw" air into the valve cover or vacuum valve. Their main function is for the crankcase breather. They are nicely chromed. Will try to add the pic.

IMO,i wouldent leave it open like that ,anything could get in and contaminate the oil.for the little investment of a breather it would give me great piece of mind

I like to just put a hose on the crank breather and run the hose over the swingarm. In the event you have blow-by, the oil will QUICKLY foul the little crank breather filters... this means that the crankcase will quit breathing and you can damage the engine. I am not sure what would get into a hose and back into the crankcase except perhaps mud dabbers or insects as the pressure is outwards when the bike is operating.
