36 mm smoothbore jetting was created by Ground Zero
I just got my engine back from my builder. I have the APE SSR1325 which includes 1327cc piston kit,Big block cylinder assembly, K435 cams, tappets, retainers, cylinder studs valve springs. The head work that was done is 1mm oversized stainless intake and exhaust valves, ported polished with multiangle valve job, shim on bottom retainers, etc. The carbs that are going on are 36mm RS Smoothbores with K&N filters. I am leaning towards a 140 main jet and a #25 pilot jet. Does anyone out there have experience with this type of set up? Am I in the ball park for a starting point? Thanks in advance!!

You could try contacting APE for jetting guideance or if you got the carbs from Sudco, they can be helpful as well.

I can't offer exact advice for your application, but you are definitely in the ballpark. I have a 1229 kit, stock head, 33 smoothbores and 140 mains. I don't remember the pilot size. Mine are a little bigger than I need because I went with an MSD and a two step limiter for drag racing and was told to set it up a little rich. It runs great though, no fouled plugs at all. I'd say it's a good starting point. Good luck!

Thanks for the input! I contacted APE first thing, with these very same questions but they obvoiously do a great job of machining and creating the foundation for hot motors but that is where their knowledge ends. Taige pretty much told me in his emailed reply that they do not dial them in once they sell the parts to build this type of engine. I am not blaming them at all, they do what they do very well but have very little fine tuning experience.

It is an entirely custom bike. Literally designed all of the frame as a 3D solid model in Dec. 2004 and have been building ever since. I hand bent and welded the entire frame (rigid pro-street design), I have Joker handle bar and forward controls, RC Component Pacific wheels front and rear, my own 4 into 2 into 1 stainless exhaust, West Coast Chopper 9" HO rear fender, FatKatz custom made tank, etc. I am looking forward to finishing it up by mid March. Unfortunately I went so aggressive on the motor (many experts I consulted ((like Jim Goebel from Redlineand Goeroge the OldKawMan)) warned against it but it is my marketing bike so I need a lot of wow factor). As soon as I complete it and get it dialed in I will post pictures.
