It's not a KZ, but is still a Kawi, so easy on me guys!

I scored a smoking hot deal ($62.50 shipped, compared to the $350+ retail price!:woohoo:) on a NOS set of Jardine slip-on exhaust for a Christmas present for Rose's Vulcan.

The installation directions didn't list anything along the lines of jetting suggestions, so I gave Jardine's tech line a call - totally useless endeavor there! :pinch:

The "tech" simply suggested that I buy a Dynojet kit.

Ok, I can do that - IF I could actually find any company (Dynojet, etc) that offers one.

So, does anyone know of a company that offers a jet kit (or info on jetting recommendations) for the '85 VN700/'86~'07 VN750?

I'd really like to have it installed and the bike running properly for the "unveiling" on Christmas day.

Isn't it great to have a wife that is so practical? My wife loves stuff for her car, so last year I suprised her and got the windows tinted, then I washed, clay-bared, cleaner waxed, and Carnuba waxed the outside. I cleaned the leather on the inside and shampoo'ed the carpets, all before she got home. Was she ever excited. She thought she had a new car. Wax on. Wax off.

Oh, I don't know what to do about your situation though.

I do know Jardine is located in Corona, and has owned Doug Thorley Headers(on Commerce) for many years.

Chris, in trying to help you out I'm confused. You list a 84 ZN700 but are looking for jet kit for VN700. Is your bike (sorry... Rose's!) like the one below or the V twin?

Actually John, the VN700/VN750 Vulcan model (liquid cooled V-twin) was loosely based on the ZN700/ZN750/ZN1100 models (air cooled inline-four) in appearance, but that's where the similarities end.

That's a right smart looking ZN700 in that pic there! B) It's what my ZN looked like before it's PO rattle-canned it flat black.

But to answer the question...I need a jet kit (not going to run w/o rejetting, since these mufflers are baffle-less).
Rose's Vulcan still pops slightly on decel even after replacing the air-cut valves and installing coasters (reed valve block off plates), so I don't want to take a chance of running it to lean with the new pipes.
And I don't have the money (or patience!) to repeatedly swap out main jets and reset the needle position to hopefully get it just right.
A Dynojet stage 1 kit (as recommended by the Jardine "tech") should give me a base jetting to begin with, and I can fine tune it from there.

Soooooo, anybody got any leads on someone who ofers a jet kit for the 700/750 Vulcan?

I was thinking the same thing.
But I checked, and the carbs on the VN800's are completely diff animals.

I signed up about a year ago to the VROC (Vulcan) website for info on Rose's bike, but for the life of me can't remember my sign-on info to post the question there. :pinch:

Well, looks like I'm going to have to play Russian Roulette in rejetting Rose's bike. Hopefully I'll get it right on the first attempt and not kill her bike. :S

Is it possible to go up one jet size and be in the ball park? I remember you telling me what a PITA they are to get on and off.

I'm thinking that since these are basically straight pipes (no baffles), that I'll need to go up at the minimum two sizes on the mains.

Even though the float chambers/bowls (float and needle in there only) are on the sides of the carbs facing each other (what a dumbass design!), judging from the diagram, I should be able to swap mains w/o removing and/or tearing the carbs completely down.
So at this point, that appears to be the only shining light to this.

Just curious, how are you gonna spend a few hours installing new pipes, jetting, etc without Rose knowing what your doing? She not allowed in the garage for awhile? Does that mean your doing laundry next 3 weeks?:woohoo:

This is the wrong place to be looking for rejet advice for the baby-BUBF. Go ask at www.vroc.org . There is also a 750-only forum somewhere... maybe yahoo groups? Anyway, I doubt the bike needs to be rejetted because you are using Jardine pipes. If you pull off the ugly "ears" and replace them with pod style filters bolted directly to the carbs, you will have to rejet. Honestly, the folks who own those bikes will know exactly if you need to rejet. BTW-I am VROC #2420... had a dual carb VN1500 a couple years ago.
