Any bike i buy that has been stored for any amount of time i use ring free (a yamaha product) and sea foam in the gas. The ring free is in my opion the best product on the market for old bikes that have a lot of carbon build up. If your site glass to check your oil level is fogged use the seafoam in the crank case and it will clean the glass. Roy

So what was the resolution of the vacuum mystery, was the port plugged or something?

Lack of vacuum when measured at the carbs during sync means a cylinder isn't firing. If there is gas present, then the carbs are doing what they are supposed to do. If not, the problem is with the carbs. The non-firing cylinder may be due to lack of spark or compression or the tune is so poor that the cylinder isn't firing and the other cylinder on that coil may be very marginal.

Strong blue spark at the plug, highest compression reading of the 4 cylinders and valve clearence was .004in. intake and .005in. exhaust.(spec. is .002 - .006 inch), New plugs and new wires made no difference, swapped 1&4 wires and made no difference, swapped the 1-4 coil with 2-3 coil and made no difference.Voltage to the coils was fine,Jumped from battery straight to coils bypassing entire electrical system and no difference. Nothing left but the carbs so I sent them to WG. WG said they were pretty bad off with wrong jets, different needles, plugged pilots, lots of trash etc.etc. I got another new fuel filter today and will put it in when I install the carbs. They should be here early part of next week.

UPDATE...PROBLEM SOLVED!
I got the carbs put back on this afternoon. WOW!! She now runs PURRRRRRFECT! Just to satisfy my curiosity, I hooked the Morgan Carbtune to it before I started the bike. As expected, everything was just as it should be. I didn't even have to adjust the idle. THANK YOU WG for the great work you did! The bike runs so good now that I found out the handlebar risers I put on just won't grip the bars good enough. A simple twist of the throttle and me and the handlebars both got thrown back!:woohoo: It aint no Busa but it has more power than this old fart needs. :silly:  Now it's finally time to clean and shine her up a bit.
