Vacuum petcock rebuild

I'm sure you guys have run across this. I'm rebuilding my vacuum petcock and after assembling it I can't turn the lever to save my life! The new dry "o" ring and rubber gasket for the selector valve won't allow it. Is there something that can be used as a lube? Thanks...

Maybe... have to be careful what you use. Could affect the rubber, swelling, etc. Let's see what other guys say. Thanks Skyman..

Pretty sure spray silicon lube is rubber friendly. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I just finished putting it back on the bike. I ended up using a very, very thin layer of wheel bearing grease. It is petrolium based, so will blend with gas just fine. Getting the new "o" ring to stay in the groove where it seals against the tank was interesting, but I got it. No more leak! Thanks...

Joe, there on ebay all the time. It's like $23+shipping. I'm sure Z1 has them also. There are a couple differant kits offered so just make sure it covers your year and make! Mine was a K&L kit which seemed to be the #1 choice on this forum!
