Just curious. Can you use a stock airbox with 29 mm smoothbore carbs on a 75z900. If so what jets. right now I have 120 mains,20 pilots and running the larger pods. thanks

I have.
PUT.
!st. You have to use the stock 73-74 air-box.
2nd. You will most likely have to take the battery box out for
instillation of carbs. On the old bikes the bat. box comes out real EZ.

Believe it or not you will get better air flow with a stock 73 air-box
then pods, and none of the weather related problems with pods.
(cross winds) expressly.

Jets
120 an 20 are a good start. make sure the slide needle C-clip
is in the middle position.
On a stock motor you may be one jet size to rich on main+pilot.
go to 117 an 17.5

I believe the 75 used the same air box as the 73/74. In 76, Kaw started using a box with separate rubber intake runners. For 29s with the stock airbox, #120 mains, #17.5 pilot jets and 5DL31-3 jet needle clip. Suggest starting at 1/4 turn out from light seated air screws.I have tested this combo with both a stock Z1 air filter and K&N drop in air filter and it seems to make no difference. This set up is fairly flexible and you shouldn't have a problem if you use 4 into 1 or stock exhaust.
