carbs dumping fuel?
09 Oct 2007 20:09
The petcock is turned to the on position, and I go to fire up the bike. Fuel pours out the bottom of the bowls. Sticky floats? The bike is a '77 kz650B1.

Welcome to the forum hammerdog. Nice to have you here and that’s a great bike you have.
I assume that you mean that the gas is flowing out of one or more of the 4 float bowl overflow pipes. If so and if you are lucky, it may only be a matter of dirt and or rust from your gas tank lodged in one or more of your needle valves. Clean out your carbs, clean out your gas tank, add fresh gas and add a new in line gas filter between your petcock and the carb could solve your problem.
I had the same problem. I had to do four things to solved it.
1) New in line gas filter.
2) New needle valve kit in each carb.
3) Adjusted the level in the float bowl with a level detector.
4) Fresh gas.
If you don't have one, a shop manual will be very usefull for you. Let everyone know how it goes.
By the way, could you add your year, model and location in your signature to allow other members to better help you.
Best of success.
