Vacum petcocks was created by roy-b-boy-b
While working on the Ninja i discovered the petcock didn't work. I was going to put a pingle on it but first i took it apart. I removed the diaphram and the center block and got some shorter screws and put it back together. It works fine just like a manual petcock.

If you removed it from the tank, you can test the petcock, by sucking on the vacuum port, and see if it works.

Shorter screws worked? Pictures?

The diaphram was ruptured. I have a million screws and bolts from parting out bikes. I will try and remember to take a picture. I am going to install fork seals and a header tommorow so i will probably post a picture during a break.

I might have not made myself clear on the first post.

I actually removed two square blocks that holds the diaphram and left them out when i assembled the petcock. Thats why i needed shorter screws.
Sorry no picture yet. I have been busy. I installed the header on the Ninja and the thing screams. Reach for the sky. It is a blast to ride. Roy

Roy,
could you explain how this mod allows the fuel to be shut off

My J has a vacuum fuel tap with three postions which I assume are run, reserve and Prime. There is no Off position.

Wouldn't removing the diagphram basiscally mean the fuel was free to flow to carbs in any tap lever position? You are then fully reliant on you carb float needles to prevent flooding of carbs.

This petcock has a off,on,and reserve position. That makes a big diffrence.
The petcock is the oval type with two fasteners. Roy
