Im rejetting my carbs after new pods and 4 in 1 pipe. I think im almost set any feedback would be nice. I have a 78 kz1000ltd with 26s im on 117.5 mains 20 pilots and 5cn7 on the third slot and screw at 1 1/2 turns idles good pulls hard all the way through and here is my plug. The only issue i have is i think my needle may be just a touch lean, on a steady cruise at about 4000 rpm it doesnt hesitate but feals like it is ready to just on the edge and once in a while it will spiff back through one of the carbs i think this means im just a hare lean in the middle. i tryed adjusting the screw for it but that didnt do it. Can anyone confirm or denie these assumptions?
BTW
I gotta say thanks to wiredgeoge for all his help and input hes been real informative.

Does look lean to me, shouldn't be more of a tan color? Was this a "plug chop" or did you just remove plug?

this was just a pull from a 2 mile test run on new plugs. Im just trying to determine my current setup to finish fine tuneing the carb setup.Sorry for the confusion.

Ya know, I think 2 miles isn't enough to really tell. It does look mighty lean though, but you have to make sure the engine is up to temp, bla bla bla... You're looking for a nice tan. You'll know when you see it...

A "chop" is when you ride at a speed that is fast enough or high enough RPMs so you are using the main section of the carbs, then you "chop" off the engine by instantly pulling in the clutch, killing the kill switch, and rolling to a stop on the side of the road to check your plugs.

You really need to see the plugs color from an idle-only for the pilot section of the carbs, and the "chop" method (if you need to) for the main section of the carbs. Just riding around and looking at the plugs later *might* give you a misleading result, since it doesn't target a specific section of the carbs (though most likely the color would reflect the pilot section since the bike is idling when you turn it off)... Thuth be told, I've never needed to do a plug chop...
