Oil In Air Box

New Member, owner of 76 Kz900.

I have many questions. One being my stock air box collects a considerable amount of motor oil. I am assuming it is coming up through the breather. I just cleaned the k&n air filter and noticed about 5 to 6 oz of oil in the air box. What is the problem causing this?

Sounds like a bunch of blowby. have you checked the compression?

There are two drain holes at bottom of air box. Perhaps clogged? :unsure:

I failed to note that the oil accumulation is over approximately four years. This might help to show the problem in a better light.

I will check the drain holes and see if they are clogged.

I'd clean it out really well and check it after a long ride to see if it's starting to collect again. Also, when's the last time you changed the oil? Ed

I just canged the oil and cleaned the air filter this past weekend. I will keep an eye on the air box to see if any oil accumulates.

check the compresion. if it is week the crankcase preasurizes and causes exessiveblow by wich ends up in the breather.
76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.
