1978 KZ650 Carbs?? Which Ones? was created by bhppy101
Hi All,
I bought a 1978 KZ650 today and it came with 2 sets of VM carbs. One has an adjustment screw at the top (sides) of the carb bodies and no piolot adjustments on the bottom...The othe has a pilot screw adjustment on the bottom of the bowls and no Top adjustments.
Which one do I use? Which one came stock with my bike?.....Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Oh.... I used the set with the pilot screw on the bottom and it idles super high even with the throttle adjustment screw backed all the way out (not touching the throttle slide at all)
Please HELP!
Thanks in advance

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

If you read the owners manual, the 78s could come equipped with either. I have 2 78s and one of them has the air screw adjustment, one has the pilot screws. I much, much favor the air screw type.
