Is it possible to remove the starter jet? How can you be sure it is clean in there?

I'm not sure about removing it, but what I did was to use some fine fishing line to clear the holes, then I took an air hose attachment that has a long tubular snout, stuck it over the "pole" until it sealed around the base, and blew air through it.
