Am wondering if maybe it's the float needle/seat union that's leaking, as this is believed a more common reason for leakage (as opposed to a damaged or leaking float). Often, a good thorough cleaning of the float needle and seat will eliminate any leakage at this union.

If not simply missing, is it certain that the floats and/or pins are damaged beyond repair?

Z1Enterprises lists the pins.

Z1E Float Pin

The tab on the float that pushes the needle into the seat is the method for adjusting float height to set fuel level in the bowls during operating conditions.

Would recommend checking, very carefully checking, the service fuel level via the clear plastic tube method (carbs fully assembled, on or off the bike). Minute adjustment of the tab results in large changes in fuel level, so best to proceed in tiny increments (if any adjustment at all seems indicated by the clear tube test). In general, it's best not to tinker with the float tab settings unless clearly necessary.

Should also remember to NOT mix-and-match the float needles and seats. They are a matched pair and are usually replaced in pairs. Should also keep the same floats with the same float bowls.

Good Luck! :)

IF you have a manual for your bike then follow
the float adjustment procedure in the book.

If you don't have the manual find someone here
at KZR who owns a 650 and find out what the float height should be.

The floats get cruddy with age and tend to sink
a little, throwing of the needle adjustment.

Its an easy adjustment to make while you have the
carbs off. You can also do it with the carbs on
if you have patience.

There's a way to check float level with a clear
tube attached to the drain plup on EACH carb, but
its messy. And it requires draining the gas, removing
the bowl, bending the tang on the floats, put the
bowl back on, fill them with gas, check gas level again
with the clear tubes. If its not right, do it over, and
over, and over....yuck....

Do it the way they show in the manual. If you can't figure
it out, let me know...I'll try to talk you thru it.

And yes the part that push's down on the pins are
made to be adjusted. They may or may not end up flush
with the rest of the float support.

I doubt you need to replace the pins that support
the floats.

You can get new needle assembles at Z-1 enterprises
I think.

If they are brass floats, Make sure they are not full of gas...
