Single or Double Throttle cables?
19 Jul 2007 12:22
1976 kz 900. I have a throttle control/grip/housing and carbs that will accept two cables, one pull one push but, have only ever used a one cable set-up.
Question 1: Is there any advantage to fitting both cables?
Question 2: Are both cables the same?
Thanks.

You can use the same cable for either in some cases but in other cases, the exposed cable part seems to be a bit longer on the return cable... like on a Z1. The return cable doesn't seem real needed...

If it works the same as my old honda, the push-pull setup is safer than the single cable. It doesn't realy on spring power to close your throttle, your second cable will pull them securely closed.
The cables tend to have somewhat different fittings (Z1 Ent. would know) but you could fit just one for now and try it out if your brave (or want a Darwin Award )

Sam's got it right,
One's a throttle cable and the other's an unthrottle cable. Never needed the latter myself but then I never disconnected one either.
