Initial cleaning of bank of carbs was created by cafekz750
I have a set of Keihen CV carbs from a 1982 KZ750H3 LTD parts bike and I am interested in getting them cleaned up. They haven't be used in ~15 years and the slides are stuck and the float bowls are a mess. I was thinking that I would like to dip them intially to remove the goo from the outside and free up the slides and such before disassembly for a more thorough cleaning. I have heard and read posts about the lemon juice/water, vinegar/water and commerical carb dip. Which would be best for the inital cleaning and wouldn't destroy the rubber in the carbs?
Thanks.

Totally disassemble and soak in carb dip. Then verify each internal passageway is clear. It is better to use an ultrasonic cleaner for that purpose. If you don't disassemble, you are basically never going to get the carbs right.
