I recently picked up a 1980 gs 1100e from a lady who "just wanted it out of her garage" for 150 dollars as it was her ex-husbands. Yes I know it is not a kaw but it is a close cousin. The bike came with 33 smoothbores on it. I believe it has the same carb spacing as the kz 1000. My other two bikes have the rs flatslides on them (One 34 and one 36). I noticed that the 33's didn't look like they had a accelerator pump on them. My question is if both are jetted correctly for the same application is there any noticable seat of the pants differance?

tbax, I didn't think they made a GS1100E in 80. I thought it was a GS1000... The GS1000 engine was a copy of the KZ 903/1015 series. The dimensions are VERY similar and spacing is the same. I suspect Suz bought a KZ900 or KZ1000 and reverse engineered it. Anyway, as to the carbs, you own both bikes, swap carbs and see. The 33s will flow enough gas to keep a stock or modified KZ1000 or GS1000 happy at any rpm. Don't have any experience with the other carbs. Jetting the 33s can be an issue because most folks over-jet them... way too rich and they don't want to idle... The top end can actually get soggy with gas and not have all the performance the carbs are capable of giving.

One of the design engineers for Kawasaki was fired from his job,and was hired by Suzuki.Thats why there`s design similarity`s.
